Dr. Scott McDougall sets out to investigate whether calf age effects test sensitivity or specificity for detection of BVD

In a recent webinar Dr. Scott McDougall gives an exclusive presentation on the trial and its finding on whether calf age effects test sensitivity or specificity for detection of BVD.

The IDEXX Antigen ELISA test has been successfully used across the globe for hundreds of thousands of BVD tests and has been the backbone of several national eradication programs. Whilst in other parts of the world the test is used on bovine animals of any age, in New Zealand the tendency has been to only use PCR testing in animals under 35 days old. With the support of IDEXX renowned dairy researcher Dr. Scott McDougall of Cognosco animal health and production research set out to investigate whether calf age effects test sensitivity or specificity for detection of BVD. The outcomes of this research have game changing implications for the testing and management of BVD in New Zealand. In a recent webinar Dr. Scott McDougall gave an exclusive presentation on the trial and its finding which is now available for all to view below.
